Shakespeare came to Arden on August 19th 2017. He saw some amazing things.

Arden Summer Party: Fun with Shakes
On Saturday, August 19th 2017, 1pm – 4pm Arden TMO and Peer gallery are hosting a party for the Arden Estate. It will be themed around our old friend William Shakespeare.
There will be FREE Shakespeare inspired art workshops for children and adults. There will be comic drawing with Rudy Loewe, costume making with Alice McCabe, ceramics with Town Gas, and drama workshops prepared by Shakespeare in Shoreditch; while Ministry of Stories will help find the writer inside you. You can also make badges, learn about Shoreditch Library, and get to know our local organisations Ivy Street Family Centre and Shoreditch Trust.
Or just turn up to enjoy the free tea, cake, falafel and a chat with your neighbours!
All welcome. Free event. No need to book.

A Very Unusual Birthday Party
Jim Hayward, Arden’s oldest resident, celebrated his 100th birthday on July 23rd 2017. To honour such a rare event Arden TMO and the 444 Air Squadron, Air Cadets hosted a special birthday party for Jim. He is an amazing character, as you can see.

In memory of Khadija Saye, an artist who died in the Grenfell Tower fire, PEER gallery and Arden TMO have renamed the Pocket Park as Khadija’s Garden.
Last Wednesday, on July 19th 2017, PEER hosted a memorial ceremony to rename the Park and also to remember Khadija’s personality and her work in the local area. For details of the ceremony there is an article in The Art Newspaper. To know more about Khadija, who worked with the TMO, taking some of the photographs on this website, you can visit PEER gallery.
She will be missed.
Art on Arden
The third instalment of PEER’s Four Seasons programme, which exhibits the responses of artists to the natural world, starts on Wednesday, May 17th 2017. You can see the programme details in the cabinet on the side of Diana House, close to the Hoxton Street Post Office, on the Arden Estate.
If you would like to meet the stars, learn about fabrics or make beautiful patterns out of plants and flowers (even weeds!) these are the shows for you.
Caliban Tower (Central Heating Update)
We are to host a meeting on March 8th 2017 to discuss progress on the central heating project for Caliban Tower. The meeting will start at 7pm, and will be held in the Regan Way Community Hall.
Healthy in Hackney
Hackney Council is running free cooking classes and cheap fitnesses classes to encourage both healthy lifestyles and healthy eating. If you would like more information please go to the following link: Healthy Hackney.

PEER are running their Four Seasons programme, which shows the responses of artists to the natural world. You can see the autumn exhibition in the cabinet on the side of Diana House, close to the Hoxton Street Post Office, on the Arden Estate.
As part of the autumn season PEER are organising Walking With Trees. You walk around Hoxton looking at trees; you then write a story about what you have seen.
The event is free.
Time: Saturday, 19th November, 2-4pm
On October 17th 2016 Mayor Philip Glanville hosted a meeting at the Regan Way Community Hall to discuss plans to put central heating into Caliban Tower. The meeting enthusiastically agreed to the proposal, which is now due to begin in the summer of 2017.
